How to track post-dated cheques

Web Updated Aug 2026

Post-dated cheques are easy to lose track of — and a missed due date is a missed payment. RushFlow’s Cheque Register tracks the physical cheques you receive from customers and issue to suppliers, with their due dates and lifecycle — pending → deposited → cleared or bounced — so every cheque is actioned on time.

Step by step

  1. Open the registerWeb: Cheque Register. It shows live cheques with a “due soon” count (within 7 days of the due date).
  2. Record a chequeUse New cheque: set the type — Received (from customer) or Issued (to supplier) — the party, bank name, cheque number, amount, cheque date and due date.
  3. Move it through its lifecycleMark a pending cheque Deposited, then Cleared or Bounced. RushFlow only allows valid transitions, so the status is always meaningful.

The register tracks — the sale or purchase books the money

The Cheque Register is deliberately a tracking register: it doesn’t post to your accounts. The actual money is booked when you record the underlying sale or purchase with a cheque-type payment. That keeps the accounting unambiguous, while the register makes sure no cheque is forgotten before its date.

A “due soon” count surfaces cheques coming due within a week so you can bank or fund them in time.
