How to read the trial balance
Web
Updated Aug 2026
The trial balance is the accountant’s first check that the books hang together. RushFlow builds it live from your posted journals — every account with its total debit and credit — and tells you whether total debits equal total credits, so you know the ledger is in balance before you trust any other statement.
Step by step
- Open the trial balanceWeb: Accounting → Reports → Trial Balance.
- Set the period and filtersPick a From and To date, optionally filter by account type (Asset / Liability / Equity / Income / Expense), or search by code or name; then Apply.
- Check it balancesEach account shows its debit and credit; RushFlow reports whether the whole ledger is balanced (total debits = total credits). Export the full list when you need it to tie out exactly.
