How to track and remit payroll liabilities
Web
Updated Aug 2026
Money you withhold from payroll — income tax, provident fund, other deductions — isn’t yours; it has to be paid on to someone. RushFlow’s Payroll Liabilities shows those accrued amounts from your ledger and lets you remit them, tracking accrued vs remitted vs outstanding so nothing statutory is missed.
Step by step
- Open Payroll LiabilitiesWeb: Accounting → Payroll Liabilities. Each liability account shows accrued (withheld), remitted and outstanding, biggest owed first.
- Remit a liabilityFor a row, remit an amount from a chosen “pay from” account (with a date and note). You can’t remit more than outstanding or overdraw the funding account.
- Track historyThe remittance history lists each payment; a remittance can be voided with a compensating reversal if needed.
Accounting note
A remittance draws the liability down against the account you pay from. When automatic journals are enabled it also posts the matching journal; either way the liability and account balances update.
