How to choose tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing

Web Updated Aug 2026

One setting decides how tax appears on every sale: whether the prices you enter already include tax (tax-inclusive) or tax is added on top (tax-exclusive). Getting it right is essential — a mismatch here is the most common reason tax “looks wrong”.

Which to choose

  • Tax-inclusive — the shelf price is what the customer pays; tax is calculated out of it. Common in retail where displayed prices include VAT.
  • Tax-exclusive — tax is added to the price at checkout. Common in wholesale/B2B.

Where to find it

Web: tax settings — set inclusive or exclusive to match how you price on the shelf.

Frequently asked questions

Do my prices include tax or add it on top?

That’s your choice: tax-inclusive means the displayed price already includes tax; tax-exclusive adds tax at checkout. Set it to match how you price on the shelf.
