Setting up your receipt printer

Updated Aug 2026

Choose how the printer is attached, match the paper width, and test it before a queue forms.

Receipt printing is the one setup step your customers watch fail, so do it on a quiet morning rather than at a busy counter. Go to Selling, payments & devices → Printer Settings.

Connection

This is how the printer is attached:

  • Browser / system printer (the default) — prints through your computer's own print dialog. Works anywhere, but asks you to pick the printer every time, which is slow at a till.
  • USB, Bluetooth, Network (LAN / WiFi) or the Sunmi built-in printer — prints straight out with no dialog. This is what you want on a counter.

Paper width

Match the roll you actually buy — 58 mm, 80 mm or 88 mm, with 80 mm the most common. If this is wrong, receipts print with the totals cut off the edge of the paper.

Test it

Press Test receipt print. That is the point of doing this today: you discover a wrong width, a wrong printer or paper loaded the wrong way round while nobody is waiting.

Settings belong to the device

Each device keeps its own printer settings, so the counter machine and the back office can print to different printers without overwriting each other. Set it up once per till.

If it still will not print, work through Receipt printer not printing in the troubleshooting guides.
