How to require approval for purchases over a limit

Web Updated Aug 2026

Not every purchase needs the boss, but big ones do. RushFlow’s approval thresholds let you say “any purchase order over this amount needs sign-off”. When a PO crosses a threshold, it opens an approval request; approvers act from an inbox, and their decision syncs back onto the order — so nothing large slips through unauthorised.

Step by step

  1. Set a threshold ruleWeb: in Approvals → Rules, add a rule with a minimum amount (and mark it active). Any purchase order at or above that amount will need approval.
  2. Trigger is automaticWhen a PO meets a threshold (for example, one converted from a requisition), RushFlow automatically opens a pending approval request for it.
  3. Approve from the inboxApprovers open the Approvals inbox and Approve or Reject (with a reason).
  4. Decision syncs to the POThe outcome is written back onto the purchase order’s approval status, so its state is visible where the buying happens.

Frequently asked questions

Can I require approval for purchases above a certain value?

Yes. Define threshold rules by amount; purchase orders that meet a threshold open an approval request that must be approved before proceeding.

Where do approvers act?

In the Approvals inbox — they approve or reject with a reason, and the decision syncs back onto the purchase order.
