How to capture and fulfil backorders
Web
Updated Aug 2026
A “sorry, out of stock” is a lost sale unless you capture it. RushFlow’s Backorders record customer demand for out-of-stock products and track it to fulfilment — and a “ready to fulfil” view compares outstanding demand against current stock, so the moment goods arrive you know exactly which waiting customers you can now serve.
Step by step
- Log the demandWeb: Sales → Backorders → New. Record the customer, product, quantity wanted and expected date.
- Watch “ready to fulfil”The ready-to-fulfil list shows backorders whose products now have enough on-hand stock to cover them.
- Fulfil itApply a fulfilled quantity (capped at what’s outstanding); the backorder moves Open → Partial → Fulfilled. You can link the sale you raise.
Frequently asked questions
Can I record demand for items that are out of stock?
Yes. Backorders capture customer demand for out-of-stock products; a ready-to-fulfil view then shows which backorders current stock can cover so you can serve waiting customers first.
