How to set up sales commission
Pay people for what they sell without spreadsheet gymnastics. RushFlow’s Sales Commission lets you define a rule per salesperson — a percentage of sales or of profit, with an optional qualifying threshold — and produces an earnings report straight from completed sales.
Step by step
- Add a commission ruleWeb: Sales → Sales Commission → Rules. Set the salesperson (or leave blank for a global default), the rate %, the basis (sales total or profit), and an optional minimum-sales threshold to qualify.
- Run the earnings reportOpen the Earnings tab and pick a period (defaults to this month). RushFlow groups completed sales by salesperson and computes commission = basis amount × rate %, showing who qualified.
- Settle itRecord what you actually pay each person as a commission payout.
Sales-total vs profit basis
Commission on sales total rewards turnover; commission on profit rewards margin, so a seller can’t earn by discounting hard. A person’s own rule always wins over the global default.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay salespeople commission?
Yes. Define a rule per salesperson — a percent of sales total or of profit, with an optional qualifying threshold — and RushFlow computes each person’s earnings from completed sales.
Can commission be based on profit, not just revenue?
Yes. Each rule’s basis can be sales total or profit, so you can reward margin rather than discounted turnover.
