How to build customer segments that update themselves

Web Updated Aug 2026

Marketing to “everyone” works for no one. RushFlow’s Segments are dynamic, saved-filter groups of customers — by lifetime value, order count, days since last purchase, VIP status, tag, group, location and more — with live counts and members that update themselves as customers change. A lightweight automation engine can then auto-tag, group or flag the members.

Step by step

  1. Build a segmentWeb: CRM → Segments & Automation → New. Add rules (field + operator + value), choose match all or any, and watch the live preview count and members update.
  2. Save itSave the segment; because membership is evaluated live, customers move in and out automatically as their behaviour changes — you never rebuild the list.
  3. Automate (optional)Add automation rules to add/remove a tag, assign a group, set VIP, or add a note to members — a hands-off way to keep your customer base organised.

What automation does (and doesn’t) do

Segment automation acts inside RushFlow — it tags, groups, sets VIP and adds notes (each also logged on the customer’s timeline). It does not send emails or SMS itself; use it to keep segments tidy and to feed the rest of your workflow.

Segments pair naturally with RFM analytics — e.g. auto-tag your Champions and At-Risk customers.
