How to accept a trade-in for store credit
Web
Updated Aug 2026
Accepting a customer’s old item against a new purchase wins sales — if you can track it. RushFlow’s Trade-ins let you take a used item in, appraise it by condition, and issue the customer spendable store credit for its value, which they redeem at checkout.
Step by step
- Record the trade-inWeb: Trade-ins → New. Enter the customer, item description, condition (new / good / fair / poor) and a base value; RushFlow suggests an appraised value from the condition, which you can override.
- Accept itAccepting issues store credit to the customer for the appraised value — immediately spendable.
- Customer redeems itAt the till, the customer pays with their store credit. You can also link the trade-in to the sale it was applied to.
Good to know
A trade-in must name a customer for the credit to be issued (the credit belongs to someone). If you reject or delete a trade-in, the credit is reversed — but RushFlow correctly refuses to claw it back if the customer has already spent it.
Store credit is the same wallet used by refunds to store credit.
