How to issue and redeem gift cards
Gift cards bring in cash today for goods you deliver later. RushFlow’s Gift Cards are bearer prepaid cards you can issue, redeem by code, top up and void — with the outstanding balance held as a liability until it’s spent, so your books reflect what you still owe in goods.
Step by step
- Issue a cardWeb: Gift Cards → Issue. Set the amount (and optional expiry); RushFlow generates a card code to give the customer.
- Redeem by codeLook up a card by its code to see the balance, then Redeem an amount against a purchase, or Top up to add value.
- Manage itView the card’s history (an append-only ledger), and Void a card if needed. A card auto-completes when its balance reaches zero.
How the accounting works
Issuing or topping up a card increases cash and a gift-card liability (you owe goods). Redeeming draws the liability down and recognises the sale. Voiding forfeits the remaining balance. It’s all balance-checked and locked so a card can’t be over-redeemed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sell and redeem gift cards?
Yes. Issue bearer gift cards with a code, redeem them by code against purchases, top them up and void them; the outstanding balance is held as a liability until spent.
