How to run separate business units in one company
Many owners run more than one line of business under one roof — a wholesale arm and a retail shop, two brands, or a side venture. RushFlow lets you define separate business units inside one company. Each sale, purchase and expense can be tagged to a unit, so every unit has its own profit & loss — while you still share one stock pool, one team and one set of books. It’s the segment view most POS/ERP tools simply don’t offer.
Step by step
- Create your business unitsWeb: open Business Units and add a unit (a unique name/code). App: open the Finance workspace → Business units → Add business unit.
- Tag transactions to a unitWhen you record a sale, purchase or expense, choose its business unit. On the POS and forms this is a unit selector; lines can carry their own unit where it makes sense.
- Allocate shared costsFor costs that belong to several units (rent, utilities), split them — see Share expenses across units.
- Read per-unit resultsWeb: open Business Unit Reports to see each unit’s P&L. App: open the Finance workspace → Business units → pick a unit for its performance.
Where to find it
Web: the Business Units screen (and Business Unit Reports). Management app (Android/iOS): the Finance workspace → Business units.
What a unit gives you
- Its own profit & loss, from tagged sales, purchases and expenses
- A share of common overheads via shared-expense allocation
- Optional partners tied to the unit (profit share + current accounts)
- Employees whose cost is allocated to the unit
