How to keep selling when the internet goes down

Step by step

1. Install the dedicated POS appOffline selling requires the native RushFlow POS app (Android or a Sunmi device), not the web browser. Install it from Google Play or the Sunmi App Store — see install the POS app.
2. Sign in once while onlineWith a working connection, sign in with your store code and cashier login. On first sign-in the app downloads your catalogue — products, prices, tax rules, customers and the active register — to the device. This one-time sync is what makes offline selling possible, so let it finish.
3. Sync before you expect to go offlineIf you know connectivity is patchy (a market, an event, a rural outlet), open the app and pull to refresh while you still have signal, so the device has the latest products and prices.
4. Sell as normal when the connection dropsScan or search products, apply discounts, take payment (cash/card/wallet) and print the receipt on the built-in or paired printer. A small offline indicator shows you’re offline, and a pending-sales counter rises — but checkout works exactly the same. Keep selling.
5. Reconnect and let it syncWhen the connection returns, the app automatically pushes every offline sale in the background; the pending counter drops to zero. You can also force it with pull to refresh / Sync now. Stock, revenue, tax and COGS then post exactly as if you’d been online.
6. Confirm the pending count is zeroAfter reconnecting, check the pending-sales count is 0. Never uninstall the app while sales are pending — see sales stuck pending sync if it won’t clear.

What works offline

The cashier app is built to run a full checkout without the server:

• Ringing up sales — barcode scan, product search, quantity and price edits
• Discounts, taxes and split payments (cash, card, wallet, bank)
• Printing receipts to the built-in Sunmi printer or a paired Bluetooth/USB printer
• Recording the customer on the sale and taking dues
• Opening and closing the cash drawer / shift

What needs a connection

A few actions reach for fresh data and will wait for the connection to return:

• The very first sign-in and catalogue download
• Pulling brand-new products or price changes made on another device
• Seeing live stock levels from other branches
• Reports that read across the whole company

Why this matters

A dropped connection is normal in real shops — a busy market stall, a basement store, a rural outlet, a mobile seller, or just flaky venue Wi-Fi. Cloud ERPs that render the POS in a browser stop taking money when that happens. RushFlow treats offline as the expected case, not an error, so trade never stops.
